The outgoing Minister of Finance, Jan Kees de Jager, visited Kennispark Twente on Monday 2 July 2012. Blue4Green was one of five companies selected from dozens of applicants to present their methods and products during this visit.
The informal meeting was themed “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” and took place in a small open-air theater. After the minister’s introductory speech, the five companies took turns pitching their products. Blue4Green was represented by Erik Staijen (owner and technician), Henk Veltkamp (ex-dairy farmer and investor), Elske de Mik (veterinarian from Deventer animal clinic) and Jorien Papen (Blue4Green’s own veterinarian).
Their clear, concise presentation explained to the minister why the lab-on-a-chip technique and the Dry2Fresh program show such promise. The successful cooperation between Blue4Green, Twente and Wageningen universities and the SME (specifically veterinarians and dairy farmers) was emphasized. The minister took aboard some critical comments on legal obstructions to innovative entrepreneurs and indicated he will investigate how this can be improved.
In closing, the minister praised the companies and said that he was very inspired by what he saw.
